This carrier could be attached to an M1936, or the later M1956, pistol web belt or could be tied and fashioned to the body or gear by using the fabric straps sewn onto the back of the carrier. This high-capacity 6-grenade design led to these carriers seeing heavy use by U.S. Marines in Vietnam as the standard M1961 ammunition pouches lacked built-in grenade mounting points, but these were also sometimes used as general purpose pouches for storing things such as medical supplies.
